Prof. You was recently invited to become a member of AIChE Journal Consulting Editors Board. AIChE Journal editorial team made the invitation to acknowledge Prof. You’s expertise and stature as a prominent chemical engineering researcher. AIChE Journal is the flagship journal of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

Besides, Prof. You joins the Editorial Board of ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering, a high-impact journal published by American Chemical Society (ACS) on sustainability and green chemistry.

Prof. You chairs Area 23C: “Sustainable Energy”

Prof. You was recently elected to chair the Programming Area 23C of the Sustainable Engineering Forum (SEF) at AIChE for 2014-2015. Similar to his role as the 2016 CAST 10A chair, Prof. You will involve in the programming and will coordinate the sessions and program of Area 23C: “Sustainable Energy” of AIChE. Area 23C includes a number of sessions on engineering sustainability and sustainable energy systems.

Prof. You elected to chair 10A: “Systems and Process Design”

Prof. You was recently elected to be a programming chair for the Computing and Systems Technology (CAST) Division of AIChE. This is the first time that program coordinators are selected by a division-wide open voting process. Prof. You will involve in the programming and will coordinate the sessions and program of Area 10A: Systems and Process Design of the CAST Division in 2016. This area includes a number of conventional sessions on process and product design, as well as emerging topics such as energy systems design and design for sustainability.

Dajun receives CAST Student Travel Award

Dajun Yue, a PEESE graduate student, was selected to receive the CAST Student Travel Award from the CAST Division of AIChE. All nomination packages were reviewed by a committee of 4 CAST Officers, and the competition was stiff. Dajun is one of the 5 CAST Travel Grant winners this year. The awards consist of $500 to support Dajun’s travel to attend the AIChE Annual Meeting, plus a ticket to the CAST Division Dinner at the Annual Meeting, where the recipients will be officially recognized and presented with the check. More details are available in the CAST division website.

In the mean time, Dajun also received a travel award from The Graduate School (TGS) of Northwestern. This is his 2nd time of winning the TGS travel award.

Prof. You receives W. David Smith Jr. Award from AIChE

Prof. You has been selected as the recipient of the W. David Smith, Jr. Graduate Student Paper Award of the CAST Division of AIChE. The award, which will be presented to him at the Annual AIChE Meeting in Minneapolis on October 18, 2011, recognizes an individual for published work on the application of computing and systems technology to chemical engineering. This news has been reported on Carnegie Mellon’s Department of Chemical Engineering home page and Northwestern’s Chemical and Biological Engineering home page.
