PEESE graduate student Daniel Garcia was recently awarded the Presidential Fellowship, which is the most prestigious fellowship awarded to graduate students by Northwestern University. This highly competitive award is funded by the President of the University. Daniel has previously received Ryan Fellowship (2013-2015), ISEN Cluster Fellowship (2015-2016) and two Honorable Mentions by NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (2014 and 2015). Jiyao Gao, a PEESE graduate student, was selected to receive a Sustainable Engineering Forum Student Paper Award from AIChE this year. These student paper awards are presented to graduate students who published the best technical papers that describe results related to engineering and sustainability. Jiyao is one of the three Student Award recipients this year, and he will receive $500 for travel expenses associated with attending this year’s AIChE annual meeting, plus a certificate of recognition. In the recent M.Eng. graduation ceremony, two PEESE M.Eng. students were recognized with distinguished awards by the Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Dajun recently accepted an offer of Operations Research Scientist from Amazon.com. After completing his PhD in summer 2016, Dajun will move to Seattle and join a group of 30+ PhDs, including a number of chemical engineers, to optimize the supply chain and inventory management of the largest e-retailer in the U.S. Besides, Dajun recently received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Self-financed Student Abroad with a $6,000 cash prize. Dajun Yue, a PEESE graduate student, was selected to receive the CAST Student Travel Award from the CAST Division of AIChE. Dajun receives CAST Student Travel Award


Belinda Wang, who will be graduating this November, has accepted a full-time position at Honeywell’s Buffalo Research Center as a Research Scientist. Honeywell is a Fortune 100 company that invents and manufactures technologies to address tough challenges such as energy and sustainability. Belinda did her summer internship at Honeywell, and she is planning to start her full-time position there in early 2013. Congratulations, Belinda!
